    Description

It is our pleasure to offer this Yaesu FRG-7700 on Ebay.  In operation of the Yaesu, the unit tested perfectly and as designed by the engineers at Yaesu.  The tuning was smooth, the digital readout accurate, and the unit was sensitive to weak signals.   With testing, we have verified that there were no operational shortcomings or issues and this receiver worked as the designers at Yaesu had planned for it.  Of special note was using the oversize knurly main tuning knob that was nice for man-sized hands to grip.
Cosmetically, the overall appearance is above average.  The receiver is not new and you will notice some markings typical from age and use.  Please look at the high quality pictures that we have provided to verify physical condition and notice markings which show previous ownership.

This receiver can be set up to operate on 110/120 or 220/240 volts AC.
The FRG-7700 is a triple superhet manufactured from 1981-1984 and sold as a follow up to Yaesu's highly rated FRG*7 receiver.  It was actually intended to be an updated version of the beloved "Froggy" with a digital display and some other features.  The FRG-7700 is an excellent receiver and one that is both worthy and a joy to operate.

As you can see, this is a serious receiver, but not an "ultimate" receiver.  For this reason, it is a decent unit for a beginning to intermediate listener.  It is easy and fun to operate and if you are concerned about a receiver being too technical, then this one is much easier to master. The sensitivity is quite good, but the receiver will require a good antenna.  You may attach a 10 or 15 foot wire to the back with some decent results, but erecting an outdoor antenna will greatly improve both the number and quality of the signals.
We work from home and listen to English programs on shortwave many hours each day.  Thus, as hobbyists, we enjoy the virtues of the receivers that we sell and the quality of programs that the shortwave broadcasters offer to their listeners.  Some of our favorite programs are "The Cooking Show" from Radio Romania, "DXers Unlimited" from Radio Havana Cuba, and "Words And Their Stories" from the Voice of America.  Each week we tune into roughly different 10-12 countries for news from all parts of the world and for many of the other enjoyable programs offered on shortwave.  Sometimes the reception is seasonal and we lose a country or two and gain others to replace them.  Over the course of a year we must listen in on about 20 countries....all in English.
Shortwave is especially fun when there are world events of high significance.  You can often tune into a broadcast from a country that may be experiencing a natural disaster or some other interesting news event.
At this point, we believe we have conveyed all the information that may be helpful for you to consider whether this receiver is suitable for your needs.
