Hakata obi
Hakata-ori is a silk fabric that is a specialty of Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture, mainly in the Hakata area. One of the three major textiles in Japan. Recently, the production areas are being dispersed around Fukuoka City. Since it was presented to the Tokugawa Shogunate by Mr. Kuroda of the Fukuoka Domain during the Edo period, the best ones are also called Hakata. It is designated as a traditional craft designated by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry.
Hakata-ori uses yarn-dyed yarn, uses many thin warp yarns, and strongly drives thick weft yarns with a reed, and is characterized by weaving the pattern mainly by floating the warp yarns.
