This is the granddaddy of all SP-600 manuals. "Radio Set SCR-244-D And Radio Receivers R-274A/FRR, R-274C/FRR, R-320A/FRC, R-483/FRR, and R-483A/FRR" 1953 over 200p. This summarizes the state of the four major SP-600 designs as of 1953. It does NOT include the JX-17 "diversity" receiver, for instance. It also does not include the receivers with the "direction finder" modification that allows one to defeat the AVC on the TRF stages. In some ways, these early receivers represent the original design from the engineers, and can be considered the most clean and smooth-operating receivers in the line. The durability of the design is such that it was produced over almost 20 years with mostly minor modifications. These models cover up to about the JX-14 (without the direction-finder models).
This manual has detailed explanations of all parts of the receiver - principles of design, parts lists, and more. There are six huge fold-out schematics at the end of the book. I print these by printing three 11x17" sheets for each of the six, then carefully cutting and taping them together to simulate the original extra-wide foldouts. Please note that no attempt has been made to duplicate the original printing process. For instance, the cover is standard cardstock with an image of the original cover printed on it. It is bound with plastic comb-binders with front and back clear acetate covers. The comb binding is nice since the entire manual will lie flat.
