  • Condition: This receiver chassis is being sold for parts or restoration. It was tested and did not receive signals. The unit powered on and the switches and controls seemed to operate just fine, but there was no RF signal. Please look carefully at our pictures to see what is included (and not included). The receiver does not come with crystals or the AC power cord. As you can see from the pictures, the actual physical cosmetics of this receiver chassis are very nice overall.

    Description

    This SPR-4 receiver came to us and is in non working condition and with mods as detailed below.  There is no RF reception on this receiver and so this chassis is being sold entirely for parts and restoration.  The unit is clean overall and there are many parts to be scavenged from the chassis.  The preselector dial is in exceptional original condition and devoid of any extra stickers / decals.  The transformer works well and the front panel is very clean.  Perhaps you can restore the chassis to proper operation, but if not, you should be able to obtain plenty of spare parts to utilize on your SPR-4 receiver.
    We ask that you please look closely at our various pictures to see the physical condition plus what is included in this sale or what may be omitted.  The knobs,  radio covers, crystals and AC power cord are not included in this sale.
    We want to point out to you that the receiver has two upgraded mods.  The first is the AGC mod whereby you can set the AGC to your desired fast or slow operation using the switch on the rear panel.  The second mod allows the installed filters to be utilized in any of the operational modes.  Generally when you operate an SPR-4, the receiving mode will determine the IF filter being chosen.  With this mod, the filter bandwidth can be set using the switch on the rear panel regardless of your listening mode.  Thus, you can tune and enjoy the receiver using wide sideband (4.8 KHz) or narrow AM (2.4 KHz) as these are unavailable in the stock SPR-4 receiver.
