    Description

This sale is for an active HF magnetic loop antenna that can be customized to cover a variety of frequency ranges to offer some versatility to your handheld receiver.  It comes with a wire loop that covers 7-30 MHz, but you can experiment with a longer or shorter loop and number of turns to move the frequency range higher or lower to match your needs and listening preferences.   The handheld radio shown in our pictures at the top of this listing is used for demonstration only and is NOT included with the antenna.
The antenna is a "receive only" device and uses an A23 battery to amplify the signal for best reception.  We also offer a passive HF/VHF antenna in our Ebay store that does quite well with reception, but does not boost the signal as much as this amplified antenna.  The advantage of this antenna over the passive version is an additional boost of about 20 - 30 dB in signal strength.  The benefit of the loop design is that it is less susceptible to household RF noise over traditional whip antennas.  Loop antennas receive magnetic signals which serve to ignore standard RF signals and noise and this makes them a good choice for higher RF noise environments such as those found with computers, TV's, LED or fluorescent lighting, microwave ovens, light dimmers, etc.
Here are some features of this active loop antenna:
low noise loop usable in high RF noise environments such as apartments or noisy homes
20 - 30 dB gain over successful passive PL-250C loop (approaches 30 dB of gain on mediumwave frequencies)
very high gain / very high sensitivity
7- 30 MHz frequency range with supplied loop
customizable frequency (larger loop or more loop turns lowers the frequency range & better reception on those signals)
sharp tuning assists with front end filtering eliminating the need for a high IP3 circuit
powered by one A23 battery providing about 65 hours of operation and is user replaceable
extreme low power consumption of ONLY 0.7ma
    on/off switch
    LED power indicator
    SMD design
    lightweight for portable use
BNC connector (if you require SMA, you may need to purchase SMA to BNC adapter separately)
Please note that the wire loop supplied with this antenna is coiled for convenient shipment and will require you to uncoil and attach to the amplified tuner housing before use.
Hobbyists who own a good handheld receiver will often desire for better signal reception and will want to experiment with the antenna to improve performance.
If you desire to consider other antenna options, we also offer an amplified HF whip antenna in our Ebay store or perhaps look at the variety of tuned ferrite amplified antennas that we also offer for sale for specific frequency ranges.
